• Frédéric Deprun analyses the role of the Normandy Panzerdivision in the weeks after D-Day.

The project of a study on the German tanks unit will finally be published in 2016 in two richly illustrated volumes. The author Frédéric Deprun spent over ten years meticulously studying the role of this armored force. The first part retraces the reformation of the unit, and leads the reader through the deadly fighting in Caumont-l'Eventé, Cahagnes, Cheux, and then also in Maysur-Orne, in June and July 1944. The second volume reports in more detail the impotence of the Panzer unit in containing the Allied offensive in the south of Saint-Lô in late July 1944. The two volumes consist of 350 pages - illustrated with 800 unpublished photographs and over 60 maps - lead us through multiple testimonies of the tragedy of the soldiers of 2. Panzer Calvados division until the crossing of the Seine.
