- Civil War Williamsburg
Overview -
In May 1862 the battle of Williamsburg was fought just outside of the quiet town. Union troops now occupied the city, and throughout the rest of the war, Williamsburg residents, who had enthusiastically supported the Confederacy, were forced to endure the indignities of living under the military government. This book recounts the tragic, comic, and mundane events that made up life in Williamsburg during occupation.
